Something to consider in this hot weather if like me, you suffer from LOW blood pressure, and the heat is making you a little dizzy you may need a little salt. I'm always banging on about cutting down on the salt because it is very bad for you especially if you suffer from HIGH blood pressure. The salt enters your bloodstream, and water always follows salt, which in turn raises your blood pressure. However, if you like your blood pressure is very low (especially if you are on Heart Medication which will make it even lower) a little extra salt in your diet on hot days will help you body hold on the the liquids and therefore, help keep your equalibrium. Don't go mad, just aim for a maximum of a teaspoon of salt added to your food throughout the day. DON'T do this is your blood pressure is high, you need to keep off the salt!
Plans are a foot to launch the worldwide ‘Precious Heart Forum’ which will facilitate a kind and supportive dialogue between heart patients of all ages and their families. I love to hear all your heart stories, so please don't stop sending them to me when the forum is up and running, but I think it will help us all to help each other having a communication forum. Watch this space for more news.
We are also getting ready to launch our new charity ‘The Precious Heart Foundation’ which will help heart patients at ground level. The plan is that the foundation will help heart patients and their families after a heart trauma or event by maybe paying a heating bill or travel costs, buying a heart monitor or paying for a few months supply of healthy fresh food to make the life-saving changes needed but not always afforded. Many of the other heart charities are great at looking at the big picture, ‘The Precious Hearts Foundation’ will help people struggling with the small day to day challenges. Unlike other charities, every penny will count so if the children feel like donating 20p from their pocket money, it will be as gratefully recieved as a £20,000 donation. I'll be putting my thinking cap on to come up with great fund raising ideas, any volunteers, please drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you.
Quick apology for the delay in replying to all your emails. I do read every single one but it sometimes takes a while when I'm busy for me to reply - but I will, promise. x
So, some lovely new videos on the way but in the meantime here is a delicious and Healthy Egg and Chips recipe. This is one of the few recipes in which I use salt. As long as you are not eating lots of processed food, a little salt used in this way is fine. I have used about 3 grams of salt in total in this recipe and the dish would be shared between 2/3 people. The RDA level of salt is 6g per person, per day.
