Artist Statement

My art begins where something else ends. I work on pre-loved, discarded canvases, each one carrying its own hidden story.

By reusing these surfaces, I honour the beauty of transformation and consciously reduce waste, breathing new life into what others have left behind. I often cover the old image in layers of gold, silver, or bronze leaf, brushing away the excess to reveal a textured, luminous base. This creates a rich, imperfect foundation, just like us.

From there, I paint my subjects: often beautiful women, sometimes nude, sometimes asymmetrical or caught in a moment of quiet strength.

At times, it’s a single flower, delicate yet bold.

I also paint beautiful ocean views that bring so much joy, from the first breathtaking view that you glimpse from the tiny airplane window.

Each subject is chosen to evoke beauty not as perfection, but as truth. I’m drawn to people and forms that are real, raw and expressive of life lived fully with all its flaws, losses and resilience.

The final step in my process is sealing the painting with a thick coat of treated resin. It brings out every detail, every shimmer of leaf beneath the paint and preserves the story for years to come.

Every piece I make is time-consuming, layered and completely unique. It’s not just art, it’s a celebration of the beauty in imperfection, the sacred in the ordinary and the power of being seen.
